Moved here 6 years ago and for almost a year I lived around the corner. I knew of and never went to La Luna. Now I live all the way West and finally I tried this gem. It reopened about 2 weeks ago with a new owner and the same chef (and much of the staff). The service and atmosphere was phenomenal. The food beyond that. Forget everything else. I ad the veal special. A chop pounced flat, breaded and topped with cheese and La Luna sauce. I could eat the breading with the sauce and be happy. Crunchy even with the sauce and cheese and the sauce is creamy and unique. We finished with a cannoli as that is the real test. What I loved was the freshness of the shell and the creamy richness of the ricotta. Wow...is the only thing I can say because I couldn't stop eating so I am sitting here 3 hours later and there is still no blood in my brain. What better is they will soon have delicious tartufo that they have been known for back on the dessert menu!

NOW OPEN UNDER NEW OWNERSHIP. After a two month hiatus the restaurant is reopened under new owners with an all new look still the same fantastic chef after 23 years they remodeled with all new equipment the place will finally be back to its pristine beginnings.... unfortunately the old owners ran the place into the ground in the last few years and had no regard for the customers nor the staff, now with the new owners and the same great chef things are really going well, look for fantastic specials with a full liquor bar and great wine list with a great happy friendly staff.

This is the best Italian restaurant in Palm Beach Cty...Been going for years but yesterday's dinner was the best. I took three new friends and we LOVED IT. Served beautifully, wonderful salad and the greatest Veal Marsala. Two of us got it and we both loved it...Nice service...I'm going back for my birthday celebration in two weeks. What a nice experience.

This place it can be easily confused for a century village bingo room! Nothing terribly wrong about sitting around centenarians but the problem here is the food that they call "italian"! The only decent item was pasta fagioli. Minestrone had a dark unappetizing color and huge chunks of vegetables. The bread i think is cheap cuban brushed with some garlic and then burned. The flounder fillet was huge, not sure if it was flounder or swai. Side of steamed vegetables barely cooked and very sad looking. Side of rigatoni in tomato sauce and the chicken parmiggiana were an insult to italian cuisine. They deep fry the chicken, LOL! I don't usually eat in places that keep the cheese shakers on the tables but i was invited here by my grandmother. If the food is a second thought for you and you are just socializing, i think you will be fine. P.S. The restrooms are worse than in a Chinese buffet!

I was long awaiting the re-opening of La Luna. I was pleasantly surprised by the elegant face lift that this restaurant went through. I was soon greeted by Kenny Willig who is certainly "at home" making folks feel welcome and comfortable. His service is top notch. The food came out hot and pleasing to the eye. I felt like I was back in Brooklyn!! I must say that I DID NOT miss the previous owner who thought he was doing us a favor by blessing us with his presence. This new team is a breathe of fresh air. I will be back in 2 weeks, when I am back in town. I will try the Veal Chop next!!!!

Things are finally looking up! La Luna is reopened under new management BUT the chef is the same! I'm back in my happy place! I had my favorite dish the potato crusted snapper and it was perfection!!! The service was exceptional! Ask for Kenny the head waiter, he will take great care of you!

Sat at the bar with a date and we shared a salad and lasagna along with a glass of wine. The lasagna was outstanding, probably the best I've had in a very long time-put together with care with an excellent red sauce. Service was excellent and the staff was very attentive (it is after season and the restaurant was pretty empty on a Friday night). I will definitely be back to try some of the other menu items.

Garlic bread lovers have no fear you can spell it from a mile away! Traditional Italian entrees. Come here to dine. If you are expecting speedy service this place is not it. This restaurant has been here for more than I've been to Florida. Well over 20 years this place is here. Dine, mingle with your guests and forget the check. When it comes is when you're ready to get kicked out. If they don't bring your check just take up the table, they can't get in another seating, the restaurant loses, but you WIN! More snoozing and mingling or romancing a date.

We came in last night with our family and we were at first concerned that the restaurant was somewhat empty. As soon as we were seated, Kenny our very attentive and professional server took over and made our night so special. Food was really very good with a homemade taste but it is as Ken who made the night. We had a busy weekend of fun and stress and he made everything better without knowing anything. If you want real homemade food with wonderful family service make this non descrip place a destination. Ask for Kenny. Don't be thrown off by the fake plants and basic decor. Come in, relax and sit down with your glass of wine, enjoy a wonderful meal with sincere and kind service. This will be our go to restaurant going forward.

Sorry to report that La Luna is not worth the wait to get served. Took forever and constant searching for servers to get anything - wine, entree (45+ mins. after salad) and manager just said- too bad they're busy, but we could leave. We stayed because we were hungry, but the 'traditional' Italian food was not worth the wait. Although waiter was very nice, management should hire more staff and not nickel and dime diners with extras for minor substitutions - like $3.50 extra for gluten free pasta (which was not noted on the menu or by the waiter). The older early bird crowd seem to like it, but we aren't running back.

A family vacation to Florida and my grandma's birthday recently drew us to La Luna for the early bird dinner. The food was pretty good but the service was top notch. My group of 5 started with 2 glasses of wine for $12 special, which was a pretty good deal and almost worked out numerically with our party. Of course since it was a special occasion and we hadn't seen my grandma in a while, we had ourselves a little cheers. That didn't go overlooked by the staff. Although no one in my group mentioned my grandma's birthday, they were observant and intuitive and came out singing happy birthday with a candle in her dessert. This went above and beyond and really made the night special. Now we can't forget about the food. So 3 out of 5 of us, including myself, went for the veal Marsala. The veal was tender and the sauce was to Marsala standard. I had the salad which had some good greens and nice veggies. Between the main course and salad I was almost ready to get my chocolate cake packed to go. The dessert portion was actually pretty tiny. I'm sure most would consider that bad however I thought that it was the perfect amount after a large meal. It gave me a nice sampling and I didn't need to be rolled out of the restaurant. Cheers to the staff of La Luna for taking care of my grandma on her birthday!

The service was terrible, ten of us received our meals separately over 20 min., then we all got our pasta. The bill included the tip, but when we all went on line after, another $17 was added, which was not in the original bill. Think that is fraudulent! When we called, we were hung up on, no apology! Won't return.

First of all, was here on a Friday evening at about 6:00 and we were the youngest people at this restaurant by at least 30 years. This is obviously a local favorite and being that it's summer time, they were offering 2 for 1 drinks and 2 for 1 dinners. A terrific value for sure! The portions here are gigantic and the food very tasty albeit heavy on the garlic. Not sure that I would come here if their menu was full price or if there was a wait but the food was good enough for the special prices. The service excellent. A great place to take your folks or grandparents for a meal. They would love the big portions, free garlic bread and 2 for 1 prices!

Great food, delicious, but... We walked in tonight, Friday night, restaurant was maybe half full. We were served our soups and salad then waited .... for an hour until our dinners arrived. We looked around the restaurant - not one other table had been served their dinners either. The entire restaurant was on appetizers and bread. Something dreadfully and inadequately wrong in the kitchen. The servers were aware but could do nothing about it. So, rating for food 4.5 stars. Rating for service 1 star.

Valentine's Day - service was poor. Waiter came by twice - once to take order and once to give check. Food was brought to us about 1 1/2 hours after being seated. Food was mixed. I ordered the chicken special and thought almost average. My wife ordered a pasta dish that was undercooked with pasta sticking together. Our friends liked their meals. No apology or any attention given during wait and no complimentary coffee or dessert was offered. Nowhere worth the cost. Recommend Marios in Boca Raton, Mama Mias in Boynton Beach, or Centannis in Wellington instead. In fact Sals was a better experience in both food and service quality.

After being seated, we got menus but had to ask for water and bread. Another large table was seated next to us, and the waiter seem more interested in them, as he was seeing a large tip. It took 45 minutes to get a salad and 2 bowls of soup. A friend ordered Veal Parmesan, which is a very common dish in an Italian restaurant. However, the veal was chopped and not a solid piece of veal. A real turnoff. The other dishes were acceptable. To make the meal more unenjoyable, the large table of 12 next to us, were signing along with the singing guitarist at the top of their lungs. This was not the type of restaurant that this was acceptable for. I was embarrassed for these people. They sounded ridiculous. Aside from the lousy service, this was extremely annoying and we couldn't hear ourselves talk. As for the bad service, our server was initially overwhelmed and busy when we started our meal. It took him a while after we were seated to come over and greet us, but we realized he was busy, so it wasn't a big deal. He would disappear into the kitchen for 15 minutes at a time and we had to ask another person where our dinners were. After our entrees were delivered, he only came by at the end of our dinners to ask if we wanted coffee or dessert. We hated to even leave a tip for this lousy meal, and we will not recommend it to anyone nor ever go back. There are too many other good restaurants in Boca Raton.

I wish I could give this restaurant no stars. I understand restaurants try to build business by offering happy hour deals and specials. We have been wanting to try this restaurant although reviews have been mixed. They advertise 1/2 price appetizers , so we went in to try them out. We were told by the hostess that we would have to sit at the bar, which was fine . We ordered two drinks and the waiter then brought us the menus after telling us that we could choose any appetizer that does not include seafood. There were about 10 appetizers on the menu of which only one didn't have seafood in them and that was mozzarella sticks. We didn't want them so we asked for the early bird menu and were told we would have to pay cash for them. This to me is a good way to discourage business rather to invite it . We drank our drinks and walked next door and had dinner at a very nice restaurant called Bangkok Thai which was great.

It was OK. Just OK. I ordered the lobster special. It was over steamed and tough and was definitely not a 2 lb lobster as they claimed. The others in the group ordered typical italian fare, and fair it was. The kind of food you can get in a pizzeria. Our waiter did not have a clue. I asked if they had Gorgonzola dressing for the salad he said they did. He brought other dressing and when I asked for the Gorgonzola he said he would bring it then pointed to the parmesan, then brought oil and vinegar which he thought was Gorgonzola. So he was not trained at all. I think we got him because some regulars came in so our original waiter left us. The original waiter might want to know that we just moved to the neighborhood, are usually 25% tippers and could be regulars if treated right. I will say that the meals were way cheaper than we expected due to the bar specials and the fact that they knock $20 off the check if you pay cash. What's with that? I've never seen that before but it's not my job to monitor their business with the IRS. All in all, I'd say decent food (but don't order the lobster special unless they know you), only fair service from our assigned waiter and reasonably priced if you bring cash. Having said all that, I think we might try it again.

It was awful the food quality was below par. The lobster was not fresh and the mussels tasted as if they have gone bad. I would not recommend this restaurant

I am channeling my grandmother for this review: "The hot food was hot. The desserts were the way it's supposed to be. The early bird is a very good value. The service was very good and they honor reservations. The managment is often grumpy and unpleasant, but the wait staff makes up for it." No kidding, my grandmother really dictated that review.

Ate here around 8:30PM on a Saturday night in October. The restaurant was pretty packed with old people. I wasn't sure if I was in a nursing home in NY or NJ or an Italian restaurant, but from what I hear this isn't an unfamiliar scene in Boca. The atmosphere is an old school Italian restaurant with a nice menu. I came here on recommendations about the food and service. The food was good, but the service was very disappointing. I ordered the potato encrusted yellow tail snapper, which I was hoping might be local to here since there is snapper served in good restaurants in the area from the Florida Keys, but that apparently isn't the case with this fish. The fish was very good and fresh tasting nonetheless. The fish was served with a lemon, white wine sauce with sauteed spinach with garlic. The sauce was very good, but the spinach was cooked with way too much garlic, which is difficult to do. I rarely think anything has too much garlic, but the spinach was barely edible because of the amount of garlic. My mom had the veal osso bucco, which was good. She enjoyed it and I tried a few bites, but I thought it was a bit too salty. I also didn't think the meat was as tender as you would expect from a veal osso bucco properly prepared. It was still pretty good. As for the bad service, our server was initially overwhelmed and busy when we started our meal, as it appeared that all 5 of his tables were asking for checks when we were ordering drinks. It took him a while after we were seated to come over and greet us, but we realized he was busy, so it wasn't a big deal. As his section emptied out, he would disappear into the kitchen for 15 minutes at a time. After our entrees were delivered, he only came by once 30 minutes later to ask if we wanted coffee or dessert. My mom asked for her leftovers to be wrapped up to go, but he came back with the check and not the leftovers. When we were discussing gratuity, we somehow forgot to remind him about the leftovers that he had forgotten and paid without getting them. We realized we had forgotten to remind the server to bring what he had supposedly boxed up only when we were half way home, so we didn't go back because it wasn't much food anyway. Despite forgetting the doggie bag, the server was generally inattentive and the bussers weren't on top of water refills and seemed awkward and untrained.

Consistently a great meal at a good price. The service and the ambiance are impeccable. I must confess that summer and early bird are unreal values. 2 for 1 specials on drinks and on dinners are terrific values. Large portions and they don't gripe about changes. Nice wine selection and although reservations are a good idea in season, they weren't grumpy when we show up without reservations. Food and service the way it should be -- gracious and consistently good. Seafood is my favorite at LaLuna.

We had six people in our party. We came during the summer when it was 2 for 1 dinners. Loved it them. Still loved it Saturday without the incentive. We had Fabio who brought us glasses of wine to sample before we bought the bottle.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
